Parampara in Mumbai – December 1, 2007

Prof. T. N. Krishnan, his sister Dr. N. Rajam, and brother Pt. Narayan Ganesh respectfully present Parampara - an unique family event with three generations of performing musicians, dedicated to the memory of their father and guru, the late Vidwan Shri A. Narayana Iyer, for his extraordinary contribution to Indian classical music.

At 6PM on December 1st, 2007 at The Fine Arts Cultural Center, Sivaswami Auditorium, Fine Arts Chowk, Chembur Mumbai.

Justice B. N. Shrikrishna (Retd, Supreme Court) and Shri V. Shankar (Educationist and President, Shanmukhananda Fine Arts) will be distinguished guests of the event.


The program for the evening will include:

  • Unveiling of portrait of Vidwan A. Narayana Iyer
  • Release of a documentary on Vidwan A. Narayana Iyer
  • Performances by:
    • Ragini and Nandini Shankar (Hindustani Violin Duet)
    • Indra Ramani and Sangeeta Shankar (Carnatic Violin Duet)
    • Shankar Devraj (Vocal Ghazal)
    • Viji Natarajan, Sriram Krishnan, and Vinu Natarajan (Carnatic Violin Trio)

About Us

T. N. KRISHNAN FOUNDATION FOR PERFORMING ARTS is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and propagation of the rich traditions of Indian Classical Music and Performing Arts by providing institutional support to performing artists, educators, and researchers under the guidance and leadership of the preeminent Violin maestro T. N. Krishnan.



T. N. Krishnan's art represents the purest expression of the Carnatic tradition. His emphasis on melodic clarity, spectral fidelity, and emotive finesse are unparalleled in his field. He is a living legend who has witnessed and assimilated the essence of the musical giants of the golden age of Carnatic Music. His music reflects the vigour, poignance and depth of the tradition as it should be practiced. Over the course of nearly seventy years, he has become synonymous with uncompromising classicism and continues to relentlessly pursue this passion. It is this singular passion that the Foundation intends to preserve and bequeath.

Broadly, the objectives of the Foundation include:

  • organizing and hosting concerts of Indian Classical Music and related performing arts
  • organizing and hosting educational workshops featuring prominent artists and educators for advancing the understanding and appreciation of Indian Classical Music and related performing arts
  • funding and guiding research projects in the areas of archival, preservation and documentation of music performances, music instruction, and rarer aspects of the anecdotal history of Indian Classical Music
  • publishing the archives and research publications of the Foundation in electronic and printed forms
  • conducting talent auditions to identify young artists from around the world, and to provide a stage for them to express their art

The Foundation earnestly seeks the support and encouragement of all rasikas and patrons.
